I was very unhappy with my doctor and the side effects were not good. I was so depressed that I stopped taking it. It was horrible. I tried to stop taking it but the side effects were so bad that I could not stop. I have tried to take it again and it worked just fine. I am now on 300 mg daily and have been doing a few weeks without a problem. I was concerned that something was out of my system because I had anxiety for several months and that Seroquel was so much better than it was before I started taking it. I still take it and I am glad that it is working for me.
My sister and I had been on Seroquel for 2 years and he was so happy that we were able to afford it. The only side effect I experienced was the feeling of a strong, sleepless feeling. I took it for the first time and I was very excited. I felt like I could function normally again, and had a good night. I did have a little sleepiness, but was so tired I just sat in bed and slept. I also had to stop taking the medication for several weeks because I was afraid that my body would get used to it. I decided to stop the Seroquel and it was so good that I could sleep and I got used to it and I couldn't sleep at all. I didn't get much relief from it, but I was so tired that I just sat in bed and slept. I was so tired that I was afraid to go out. I was so afraid that I would get sick. IntroductionSeroquel (quetiapine) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that has been widely used in the treatment of mental disorders. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Seroquel in 2003. However, there are currently no studies evaluating the efficacy of Seroquel for the treatment of anxiety disorders.
Study DesignThe study design was designed to evaluate the efficacy of Seroquel in patients with a generalized anxiety disorder. A single, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted between January 2003 and January 2005. Patients were evaluated for efficacy and safety at baseline and during follow-up. We assessed overall and individual patient characteristics. The primary outcome measure was the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D). We also analyzed the efficacy and safety of Seroquel in comparison with placebo.
ResultsIn the study, 34 patients were randomized (n = 10) to receive Seroquel for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. The median follow-up time for the patients was 24.9 months (range: 2–48.6 months). Mean age was 72.9 years (range: 54.4–87.6), and mean duration of medication was 9.8 months (range: 3.0–16.3). All patients were on an atypical antipsychotic and had been taking an antidepressant before the study.
ConclusionsSeroquel is well tolerated in patients with generalized anxiety disorder. This study provides evidence of the efficacy and safety of this novel agent in patients with generalized anxiety disorder.
